For our latest Volunteer Recognition Wednesday spotlight we want to introduce a group of volunteers.

We affectionately call Tina, Mary, Pam and Donna the “Pink Ladies” because they have taken on a large project to help increase the awareness and utilization of annual mammograms. It all started when Pam recruited some friends to do some hands on volunteering after she was inspired to add to her already full plate. “Most anyone can write a check but giving time hands on takes a special person” -Tina. “At the end of the day you feel good “ -Donna. They take time on non-clinic days to review charts of women over 40 and get conversations started about why mammograms are so important and they even go the extra mile and follow up with patients. Their project has already demonstrated success, because of their persistence two patients were encouraged to complete screenings and thanks to the early detection of breast cancer received treatment. These amazing ladies are proof that with the right tools and training even without a medical background you can still volunteer at the People’s Health Clinic. Thanks Tina, Mary, Pam and Donna, you have helped us get to 15 years of building a healthier community, one patient at a time.
